Members of the SYS-ED staff did educational consultancy on early versions and implementations of UNIX at Bell Laboratories and AT&T over a quarter of a century ago. 1  Since then, we have worked with each of the major UNIX- and Linux-variants and have become recognized as experts in teaching the enhancements and performance guidelines to both business and IT professionals. Work from our consultancy assignments in conjunction with the Computer Education Techniques knowledge base has served as the foundation for the development of tailored courses - popular shells, network administration, scripting, development languages, and performance and tuning topics which extend industry standard textbooks.

SYS-ED staff and CETi Technology Partners utilize both UNIX and Linux as the base operating system in a wide range of specialized implementations: networking, web servers, databases, middleware, and development platforms. Equally as important, given the limitations with open source documentation, we have developed extensible modular courseware for teaching: variant-specific examples, code snippet, diagrams which explain, exercises, and validation assessment. Upon completion of a instructor-led course at the client location, it is standard policy to organize subject matter for future utilization in a web-based training infrastructure.
