IMS Training Services SYS-ED offers challenging "hands-on" IMS training for motivated programmers who want to be real pros and are willing to work. Our 25+ years experience as IMS consultants in systems programming, database administration, and application development provides us with a unique combination of historical perspective and the IBM mainframe systems software skillset to teach a new generation of IT personnel. We worked on several sizable first generation IMS projects, when the source code and program logic was available; it no longer is. This knowledge provides us with a unique insight to explain and draw diagrams which teach why the software works or in some situations doesn’t work as advertised. That is why IBM and other software companies have used SYS-ED instructors to teach their current generation of software developers. Bottom line, our “educational consultancy” courses are essential to maintaining an existing IMS system and integrating IMS to web enablement technologies. After the IMS training is complete, students are encouraged to submit their IMS questions. Our experienced instructors specialize in using real-life programs and design problems. Whether it's IMS Database Design, IMS DB DL/1 Application Programming, IMS DC and Message Format Services Programming, IMS Performance and Tuning, IMS Recovery and Restart or IMS Utilities, we encourage students to bring in the specifications of their own projects for discussion and analysis. We teach the longstanding add-on products and third party utilities such as IMS File-AID, ADF-II, IMS MTO, File-AID and also an IMS Systems Programmer training program. |

SYS-ED's courseware library consists of student hand-outs, training aids, documented walkthroughs, and industry-specific exercises. The Computer Education Techniques knowledge base is a service for answering questions, inclusive of the research and validation of the accuracy of information in the public domain. Citation of source documentation and examples are used to provide answers to the questions. Content is selectively added to SYS-ED course hand-outs and training aids. Our long-term strategy is to have our courseware recognized as a NRV: Nationally Recognized Vendor.

| Over the past year,
we have had inquiries regarding whether SYS-ED still offered IMS courses for
IT professionals.
The typical comments were that: |
||
| 1. | It is extremely difficult to find IMS training which develops the specialized skills needed for application development and maintenance tasks. | |
| 2. | There is a scarcity of fast-track IMS courses, 5 or fewer days in duration, geared to Fortune 1000 corporations and their employees. | |
| 3. | A high percentage of IMS courses are cancelled. | |
| 4. | That travel costs and living expenses in a majority of situations are a significant constraint when it comes to attending a IMS course. | |
| 5. | That it is important to have a resource for asking IMS questions once the programming language course is complete. | |
In response to these questions: |
||
|
