Longstanding Consultancy
Experience |
|||||
Few software or consulting
organizations have the skilled personnel or have been doing
COBOL
training longer or better than SYS-ED. When it comes to evolutionary
COBOL and software
technologies being integrated with
WebSphere MQ
middleware and system software -
CICS,
IMS, and
DB2, the credential's of SYS-ED in terms of consultancy
experience and degrees in computer science will be comparable or
superior to that of the major software companies.
Value added service is provided through our software specific websites: knowledge base, technology updates, and assessment validation. Equally as important, SYS-ED recognizes and differentiates between industry standard content and educational consultancy. Our staff will review documented coding standards and work with the client to select the examples, sample programs, and exercises from the CETi courseware library. If the client has determines that they require examples and exercises specific to their environment, then we will develop new ones. For example, the COBOL CALL statement’s role has been significantly expanded in order to utilize to best advantage the Language Environment services such as storage management and condition handling. |
| SYS-ED/New York Courses |
|
SYS-ED COBOL courses are offered through our New York schedule. Our COBOL curriculum courses includes 15+ course titles, with the TC suffix indicating a course that was developed and taught to meet the specific operating requirements of the client organization. Course specific information can be reviewed by typing COBOL in the search engine field. SYS-ED COBOL courses are not open to the general public. Only employees sponsored by Fortune 1000 corporations, government municipalities, healthcare providers, and consulting companies are allowed to enroll in a SYS-ED course and only after a consultation with our Director of Education. This is essential for ensuring that the employee be placed in the course which corresponds to the employer's operational objectives, correct version and variant of COBOL, and operating environment.
SYS-ED has been conducting courses in the public
domain since 1980; however, there have been
changes in the laws and regulations
governing computer training in the state of New York. The schedule on our
websites reflects a projected time frame for licensure with the New York State
Department of Education - Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision and
submission and approval of curriculum. It will be updated quarterly.

A distance-learning course is 65% lecture with the remaining 35% of the service provided in the form of scheduled interactive question and answer sessions with a subject matter expert, hands-on exercises, optional validation assessment, and submission of questions through our technology exchange websites. Alternative web-based and e-learning training is available: self-paced, presentation through the client's authoring system, or podcast. Client organizations are presented with a palette of medium to select from in order to address selection of content, time compression, scheduling, and operational requirements. These tailored services are offered selectively. Prior to scheduling a web-based course, SYS-ED requires an examination of the prospective client's telecommunication's and software infrastructure to be utilized in the transmission of the service: bandwidth, firewall, web browser, base operating system, and system software security.
