DYL-280(VISION:RESULTS) Software
DYL-280(VISION:RESULTS) is an information management and report generation system for IBM
mainframe enterprise environments. It
is a non procedural language which utilizes commands and keywords and serves as an extension to the on-line and batch systems. IBM mainframe
COBOL installations use DYL-280:Results as a complement to the COBOL language.
The role and advantages associated with DYL-280(VISION:RESULTS) are:
- Accessing, retrieving, updating, and reporting on data from files and databases.
- Converting enterprise server data to data formats for business software.
- Streamlined testing procedures through automatic error analysis and cross-reference.
- Support for the IBM LE: Language Environment.
- CALL subroutines can be written in COBOL, C, PL/1, FORTRAN, and Assembler.
- CALLs can be made to CEEDATE and CEEDAYS.
CA DYL-280(VISION:Results) also is used with companion software to access and audit databases: DB2, IMS, and IDMS.
SYS-ED Experience - DYL-280(VISION:RESULTS) Training
Since 1980, SYS-ED has been helping organizations address their staffing requirements
with DYL-280 and the Computer Associates family of mainframe software.

Information management and
report generator tool that utilizes an English-like programming
language to retrieve, manipulate, and format data. It supports
IBM mainframe file structures, databases, and access methods,
and provides comprehensive data selection, analysis, and file
handling capabilities. |

Categorizes and protects
software assets by helping to establish software lifecycle
procedures which conform to an organization’s operational
requirements. It provides an inventory of the component software
environment across development groups and heterogeneous
platforms. CA-Endevor SCM is used to drive the production
turnover process by verifying approvals, recording changes, and
executing a change package. |

Mainframe report generator
which is used to search tables and files, edit data
selectively, read and write both fixed length and variable
length datasets. It can use complex logic and perform
multifaceted tasks. Easytrieve Plus is used to create visually
appealing reports. |
When there is a challenging or non-standard DYL-280 training assignment, our staff of system consultants get requests directly from CA to
provide the training; case in point:
"The Before", "The
After", and the
student evaluations. Few independent training companies offer the range and multiple levels of specialized and interrelated
mainframe programmer productivity tools and development utilities
courses that we do.
SYS-ED's staff and CETi Technology
Partners are experts on CA-DYL-280( and
average 30 years experience in
legacy mainframe
programming languages and system software. This been there done that consultancy experience provides us with a privileged perspective from which to teach the industry standard
subject matter and provide invaluable performance guidelines. We refer it to as educational consultancy and it makes all the difference in the world in
maintenance programming and training the next generation of mainframe programmers. And truth to be told, our staff has been called on by
major software companies
to train their clients and
software developers.
If you’re shop is utilizing a combination of mainframe utilities and development tools from the Big 3:
Computer Associates,
Compuware, and
IBM, then
integrated workshops and examples will make a major significance in training your next generation of mainframe programmers. They will learn
not just how to perform tasks specific to the product; but will receive a foundation in the underlying structure of the systems software and how
all the pieces fit and work together. Additional workshops can be selected from the
CETi
courseware library.
SYS-ED does not sell software; we only
teach!
And towards this end, we apply the full complement of
training medium to help IT professionals learn. In our
DYL-280 (VISION:RESULTS) courses, students learn by doing; one-third of their class time will be spent using DYL-280 and maintaining programs on our
z/OS systems. Each student receives a
comprehensive hand-out and
tailored training aid.
After a course is over, clients are welcome to ask the
inevitable questions which
come up back on the job.
SYS-ED
mainframe utilities and development tools courseware and training aids extend the source documentation and incorporate an examination of the underlying architecture, program logic, and sample
programs which have been validated on consulting projects. In our opinion, when there is a scarcity of up to date industry standard textbooks, courseware which “explains and demonstrates” is fundamental to an effective learning experience.
Upon completion of a SYS-ED instructor-led course at the client location, it is standard policy to organize content
for future utilization in a web-based training infrastructure.
