Why SYS-ED for Programming Languages Training
SYS-ED fast-track programming language courses and training programs were developed to meet the operating objectives of Fortune 1000 companies, consulting companies, government municipalities, and healthcare providers in interrelated information technology. Our success over the past quarter century is reflected in the clients that we have provided programming language training in volume and the efficiency of our learning paths. The increasingly hybrid application development environments - open source XML and Java with proprietary MS .NET, and migration of client/server development languages (Visual Basic and Visual C++ MFC), has been met with educational consultancy which extends and applies the industry standard subject matter with tailored industry- and client-specific examples, sample programs, and  workshops.

SYS-ED’s credentials in terms of consultancy experience and advanced degrees when it comes to legacy programming languages - COBOL, Assembler Language, PL/1, FORTRANREXX, C, and C++, and new technologies integrated with IBM WebSphere MQ middleware and system software - CICS, IMS, and DB2, in many situations will be superior to that of the employees from the source software companies. And in fact we get requests from major software companies to provide programming language training for their clients and their staff.  SYS-ED programming language courses are comparable to the training offered by the software companies with value added service provided through our software specific websites: knowledge base, technology updates, training aids, and assessment validation

Programming Language Courseware
An important component in the delivery of the programming language training was the development of courseware: student hand-outs, sample programs, skeleton programs, workshops, and training aids. SYS-ED courseware incorporates industry standard content and consultancy derived techniques for designing, coding, and debugging applications. The collective efforts of our subject matter experts, who average 30+ years experience in information technology, are managed by editors, with multidisciplinary expertise in text book authoring and degrees in management and business administration. The classic principles of adult learning are applied to the content, interpreting and translating subject matter into performance objectives, narrative descriptions, and diagrams which explain the architecture, design, and logic of the programming language. The courseware has been designed to utilize a variety of presentation formats: textual, tabular, diagrammatic, bullet point, and code snippets. Our courseware library has been incrementally augmented, revised, and maintained. It is highly valued, especially with legacy programming languages where there is a scarcity of up to date text books and open source software documentation which is typically less comprehensive than its proprietary programming language counterpart. For organization’s who have a requirement for their own employees to teach programming languages or the need to have content available for presentation through a web-based learning medium, we will tailor and license our courseware.

Knowledge Base and Submit Programming Language Questions
SYS-ED reviews information in the public domain distributed by software companies, international standards committees, and purveyors of open source software. We perform our own independent analysis and assessments of benchmarks for software updates and new products. Vendor documentation and third party content is interpreted and selectively incorporated into the courseware and training aids. SYS-ED clients are invited to submit programming language questions. Our system consultants and technology partners answer, explain, and where applicable reference source documentation. Questions are reviewed and answered on a first-come/first serve-basis. This service is available through our categorized and programming language specific websites: COBOL, Java, .NET, REXX, and XML.

Educational Consultancy and Value Added Service
SYS-ED recognizes and differentiates between industry standard content and educational consultancy. We review documented coding standards and then have the client select the examples, sample programs, and exercises from our courseware library. If necessary, we will create new ones and also provide skeleton programs. At the client discretion, assessment validation can be provided.

Consultation Prior to Accepting a Training Assignment or Enrolling an Employee in a SYS-ED Course
It is standard operating procedure to schedule a telephone consultation with our Director of Education or Curriculum Manager. As part of this process we will review the subject matter, sample programs, workshops, and installation standards and provide a training plan in writing. For organizations evaluating whether to send an employee to a SYS-ED course, we will require that a profile form be completed and submitted both by the manager and the employee who will be trained. It is our prerogative to ensure that the employee has the prerequisite background for the training. Not everyone is allowed to enroll in a SYS-ED course.

New York State Department of Education - Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision
In order to validate the quality of our work, SYS-ED’s core programming language curriculum have been submitted for review to the New York State Department of Education - Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision.
