Why SYS-ED
for Computer Applications Training
Since the mid 1980's SYS-ED has been providing consultancy derived
training on computer applications software. Our courses and training services
reflect multi generation experience with the Microsoft Windows operating system
family and evolving
MS Office Suite:
Internet Explorer,
Outlook,
Word,
Excel,
PowerPoint,
Access,
Project,
and FrontPage. SYS-ED courses provide insights and guidelines to address issues
associated with the distribution and management of the software and the
transition to software as a service and web-enabled documents and data. Equally as important, we offer curriculum
which demonstrate and teach the emerging open source alternatives to Microsoft:
UNIX-variants,
StarOffice,
OpenOffice,
and
Google Apps.
Coordinated learning paths provide the foundation for
creating
databases, scripts and utilizing web servers for
automating
tasks and
presenting content.
Computer Applications
Courseware and
Training Aids
SYS-ED's computer
applications utilize industry standard textbooks and consultancy derived demonstrations,
walkthroughs, and training aids. The collective efforts of our subject matter
experts are
managed by IT professionals who have multidisciplinary skillsets in
information technology, graduate degrees in computer science, management,
business administration, and authoring IT text books. The classic
principles of adult learning are applied to the content, interpreting and
translating subject matter into performance objectives, narrative descriptions,
and tailored industry- and client-specific examples. The courseware utilizes a
variety of presentation formats - textual, tabular, diagrammatic, hyperlinked
summaries, and wizard-driven instructions.
SYS-ED's courseware library has
been incrementally augmented, revised, and maintained. It is highly respected in
evolutionary information technology. For organization’s who have a requirement for
their own employees to teach computer applications subject matter or the need to
have content available for presentation through a
web-based learning medium, we will tailor and
license our courseware.
Knowledge Base and
Submit Computer Applications Questions
SYS-ED reviews information in the public domain distributed by
software companies,
international standards committees, and purveyors of open source
software. We perform our own independent analysis and assessments of
benchmarks for software updates and new products. Vendor documentation
and third party content is interpreted and selectively incorporated into
our courseware and training aids. SYS-ED clients are invited to submit
computer application and web design questions. Our system consultants and technology partners
answer,
explain, and where applicable reference source documentation.
Questions are reviewed and answered on a first-come/first serve-basis.
This service is available through our software specific and industry
categorized websites.
Educational Consultancy and
Value Added Service
SYS-ED recognizes and differentiates between industry standard content
and educational consulting. We review documented standards and
then have the client select the walkthroughs, examples, sample programs, and exercises
from our courseware library. If necessary, we will create new ones and
also provide skeleton programs. At the client discretion,
assessment validation can be provided.
Consultation Prior to Accepting a Training Assignment or
Enrolling an Employee in a SYS-ED Course
It is standard operating procedure to schedule a telephone consultation with our Director of
Education or Curriculum Manager. As part of this process we will review the
subject matter, walkthroughs, workshops, and provide a written training plan.
For open source and software as a service, software can be installed on a trial
basis. SYS-ED will tailor the installation, set-up the delivery of content
in either a traditional classroom or extended web-based environment and provide links for submission of questions. For organizations evaluating
whether to send an employee to a SYS-ED course, we will require that a
profile
form be submitted by both the manager sending the employee and the employee. It is our prerogative to ensure that the employee has the
prerequisite background and is placed in the appropriate course. Not everyone is
allowed to enroll in a SYS-ED course.
