DATES:

HANDS-ON TRAINING:
    1. Introduction
      • Become familiar with the features and concepts of DB2 and SQL.
    2. The Relational Model
      • Learn the characteristics of a relational model and a RDMS.
    3. Projection Operation
      • Utilize DB2I/SPUFI or DB2 Control Panel to run queries.
      • Execute simple queries from sample tables.
    4. Joining Operation
      • Understand and utilize multiple table queries.
      • Execute queries which perform an inner join.
    5. Structured Query Language
      • Use SQL commands.
      • Execute simple data modification DML and DDL statements.
    6. Utilities and Commands
      • Examine the characteristics of a relational model and RDMS.
      • Gather statistics, determine SQL execution attributes, and load and unload data.
    7. DB2 Security and Integrity
      • Examine the attributes serving as the foundation of security and integrity in DB2.
      • Example sample control cards.
      • Review a scenario for locks and data integrity.
    8. DB2 Releases and Related Products
      • Become familiar with the current releases of DB2 and related software.
    9. Physical Design and Efficiency Techniques
      • Examine the concepts and features serving as the foundation for physical design and an efficient implementation.
      • Given a basic system design for a funds transfer system, perform the physical design for an online real-time system.
    10. Specific Tuning Strategies
      • Analyze the concepts and details associated with tuning strategies.
      • Determine whether there is a need for tuning.
      • Locate and identify statistics.
      • Perform tuning for a small auto rental system.
