  • Programmer
  • System Analyst
  • System Designer
  • IT Professional

    1. JEE and WebSphere
      • Design a simple n-tier application; the instructor will demonstrate how WebSphere can be used in the development process.
    2. RAD: Rational Application Developer
      • Code, compile, test, execute, and deploy a basic Java application.
    3. Servlet Basics
      • Code a servlet which allows the user to enter data.
      • All the data can be edited; the entry is accepted only when all the data is correct.
      • Incorrect entries generate the appropriate error message.
    4. JSP Basics
      • Code a JSP application which allows the user to enter data.
      • Entry is only accepted when the data is all correct; incorrect entries generate an error message.
    5. Servlet Interaction Interface
      • Use RAD to develop screens for data entry and browsing data.
    6. Advanced Servlet Programming
      • Create servlets which maintain persistent states for an application and a session.
    7. JSP Techniques
      • Create a JSP application that redirects users to browser-specific pages, creates and reads cookies, and accesses session information.
    8. Enterprise JavaBeans Programming
      • Create and deploy an EJB using a relational database for a data source.
    9. JPA: JAVA Persistence API
      • Implement a stateless session bean which will supply calculated information using data from a database. The database is queried using JPA.
    10. Entity Bean
      • Write an entity bean with container-managed persistence which can be used as a component in application development.
    11. Deploying Enterprise Application Projects
      • Use RAD to deploy an application comprised of the beans and code from the previous exercise to a production server.
    12. JEE Design Patterns
      • Recode an application using the Factory and the Singleton Pattern; this will provide a class which: 1- Is limited to a single instance. 2- Is a single global point of access to that instance.
    13. IBM Rational in a Large Project
      • Develop a multi-tier application using JEE technology; the program will use a front-end client application, business rules in the middleware and EJB to access the remote database.
