CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
ASP.NET and Servlets
The relationship between JSP and the server.
The relationship between JSP and Java servlets.
Servlets
Code a servlet that communicates with a JSP program.
HttpServletRequest interface is associated with the request; it provides the capability to look at the: 1- Request parameters using getParameter. 2- Request type with GET, POST, HEAD. 3- The incoming HTTP headers with cookies and Referer.
Get the parameters passed into the JSP application.
HttpServletResponse interface is the HttpServletResponse associated with the response to the client; since the output stream is buffered, the HTTP status codes and response headers can be set.
Once any output has been sent to the client, this will not be permitted in regular servlets.
Simple JSPs
Code a simple JSP program for displaying system information.
Request-Time Expressions
Code a request-time expression and use request-time predefined variables in the HTML.
Language Elements
Code editing logic and medium complex logic in the JSP using a number of the languages constructs.
Creating JSPs
Code a JSP which invokes another JSP and provides inter JSP communication.
Using Beans
Create a JavaBean to process data from a textbox; invoke the bean using JSP.
Code additional logic to the bean created in the previous exercise; invoke the bean using JSP passing data back and forth.
Database Connectivity
