The course workbooks and training aids that we provide as part of our instructor-led courses are unique in the IT field. They reflect far more than simply the vendor documentation. Our content and diagrams reflect a careful examination of the program logic, source code, and sample programs which have been validated on consulting projects. And in this day and age with inter mixing and hybrid implementations of open standards and vendor systems software, reference material which “explain and demonstrate” is fundamental to effective knowledge transfer.

Not All Mainframe z/OS training are Alike!

Real Hands-on Training
SYS-ED's students spend fully one half of their class time in actual hands-on workshop sessions with our z/OS mainframe computer -- unlike some courses where you're lucky if you even see a computer. Under the guidance of our highly qualified instructors, our students work at their own terminals, coding and running real life programs - not oversimplified "sample programs". With our limited class size, all students receive the individual attention they need, and can bring in programming assignments, debugging or design problems to the workshop sessions.

Wrote the Book
SYS-ED mainframe OS/390 and z/OS training course manuals are the best in the industry. They are comprehensive guides and programming models written especially for each course by our experienced instructors. They are thorough, clear, and well organized, and serve as desktop references long after the course. Our manuals are constantly updated to include new versions and more efficient programming methods.

Teaching is Our Only Business
Most computer training companies are divisions of large software companies or consulting companies. Not SYS-ED. Our only goal is to provide top-quality computer training for IBM mainframe courses to meet the needs of highly motivated IT professionals-no more and no less. Because we're independent, we're free to concentrate on teaching--and we do it very well.  And yes, we even provide IBM mainframe courses and tailored programs for IBM personnel!

All Our Teachers are Teachers
All SYS-ED instructors combine teaching skills with broad practical experience as consultants. Our instructors average 30 years of experience in the IBM mainframe environment – operating systems, programming languages, 3rd party utilities and development tools, and system software. And they know how to teach it. We teach not only "how to", but "why", building a solid foundation in fundamentals and insights into advanced materials. Because teaching is a full-time commitment, there are no part-time instructors on our staff. When they're not in the classroom, they're busy writing or updating course manuals, developing training aids, improving techniques, even developing new courses. And they're available to students after the course for additional advice or support.

Full Compliment of Programming Languages and Third Party Utilities
SYS-ED mainframe OS/390 & z/OS courses provide multiple levels of open enrollment fast-track legacy programming languages: COBOL training, Assembler training, PL/1 training, Easytrieve training, FORTRAN training, and SAS training. Equally as important, we offer the most comprehensive open enrollment accelerated hands-on Utilities & Development Tools courses such as Xpediter training, File-AID training, Abend-AID training, DYL-280 training, Syncsort training, Endevor training, and Panvalet training.

Minframe Training: Operating Systems and Systems Software
SYS-ED's 150 mainframe OS/390 and z/OS courses include specialized a la carte courses and integrated training programs including operating systems and systems programming – (z/OS, z/VM, DOS/VSE/VM),  telecommunications (SNA, VTAM, Netview) systems software (VSAM, CICS, IMS, DB2, and CSP) and web enablement (CICS, DB2, and WebSphere).

Our Place or Yours?
SYS-ED's mainframe z/OS courses are held at our modern, fully equipped training center in New York City, and major cities in North America and Europe. If you prefer, we'll arrange on-site courses at your own computer installation, inclusive of mobile computer classroom set-up. On-site courses can include the same workshops, and case studies and hands-on approach as our open enrollment public courses or can be customized to your particular application or project.

For additional information including outlines, availability of private courses, references, and course customization, contact David Shapiro at our New York office at 212-564-9147, 48, 49 or register online.
