SYS-ED Course SYSED
The programmers you need may already be working for you! SYS-ED’s challenging, “hands-on” training lets you develop your own programming staff and save the time, effort and expense of hiring new personnel. Since 1980, we have been helping organizations address their staffing requirements. No one offers the range and levels of programming languages courses that SYS-ED does. And no training company has as extensive library of sample programs and prototyping workshops that we do! There are fast-track, advanced and debugging courses for COBOL, Assembler, PL/1, FORTRAN, CA-Easytrieve Plus, REXX, C, and SAS. The C and Java extensions to these legacy programming languages is also taught.

In our courses, students learn by doing; one-third of their class time will be spent coding and debugging programs on our z/OS and OS/390 systems. Each student receives a comprehensive student workbook and reference card. After a course is over, students have access via the Internet to the inevitable questions which come up back on the job. We teach the complete range of programming languages and tailored advanced topics.

Yes, We Still Offer Mainframe Programming Training!

Over the past year, we have had a number of inquiries regarding whether SYS-ED still offered programming language training for IT Professionals.

The programming languages course workbooks and training aids that we provide as part of our instructor-led courses are unique in the IT field. They reflect far more than simply the vendor documentation. Our content and diagrams reflect a careful examination of the program logic, source code, and sample programs which have been validated on consulting projects. And in this day and age with inter mixing and hybrid implementations of open standards and vendor systems software, reference material which “explain and demonstrate” is fundamental to effective knowledge transfer.

The typical comments were:

1. That is extremely difficult, if not impossible to find open enrollment Assembler Language, PL/1, FORTRAN, or REXX training with the specialized skills requirements needed for specific development and maintenance tasks.
2. That there is a scarcity of fast-track programming language courses, week long in duration, geared to corporations and their employees.
3. That a high percentage of open enrollment programming language courses are cancelled.

Not All Mainframe Programming
Training Courses are Alike!

Real Hands-on Training
SYS-ED's mainframe programming training courses are tough, but they're worth it. Our challenging "hands-on" training immediately increases programming productivity by 50% or more for both business professionals new to mainframe programming and experienced mainframe programmers. We draw upon our extensive library of sample programs and case studies to explain, demonstrate, and implement real-world applications. This will translate into productivity enhancements which will be needed in order to implement business systems.

Wrote the Book
SYS-ED's computer programming languages course manuals are the best in the industry. They are comprehensive guides and models written especially for each course by our experienced instructors. They are thorough, clear, and well organized, and serve as desktop references long after the course. Our manuals are constantly updated to include new versions and more efficient programming methods. SYS-ED students also have access to our on-line reference books, sample programs, and training aid via the Internet.

Teaching is Our Only Business
Most computer training companies are divisions of large software companies or consulting companies. Not SYS-ED. Our only goal is to provide top-quality computer training for highly motivated professionals-no more and no less. Because we're independent, we're free to concentrate on teaching--and we do it very well.

All Our Teachers are Teachers
All SYS-ED instructors combine teaching skills with broad practical experience as consultants. Our instructors average 30 years of experience in the IBM mainframe environment – operating systems, computer programming languages, 3rd party utilities/ development aids, and system software. And they know how to teach it. We teach not only "how to", but "why", building a solid foundation in fundamentals and insights into advanced materials. Because teaching is a full-time commitment, there are no part-time instructors on our staff. When they're not in the classroom, they're busy writing or updating course manuals, developing training aids, improving techniques, even developing new courses. And they're available to students after the course for additional advice or support.

Our Place or Yours?
SYS-ED's courses are held at our modern, fully equipped training center in New York City, and major cities in North America and Europe. If you prefer, we'll arrange on-site courses at your own computer installation, inclusive of mobile computer classroom set-up. On-site courses can include the same workshops, and case studies and hands-on approach as our restricted enrollment courses. Or can be customized to your particular application or project. In addition to our programming language courses, SYS-ED’s 150 OS/390 and z/OS courses include operating systems and systems programming – (OS/390, VM, DOS/VSE), telecommunications (SNA, VTAM, Netview) systems software (VSAM, DB2, CICS, IMS, CSP, and MQSeries) and web enablement (DB2, CICS and WebSphere).

For additional information including outlines, availability of private courses, references, and course customization, contact David Shapiro at our New York office at 212-564-9147, 48, 49 or register online.
