Qualifying a Training Request

Our organization is converting z/OS JCL files to PC batch files.

The examples and tailored exercises will need to highlight and address the following issues:

1.	The .bat files contained many statements from mainframe JCL that were no longer needed and made no sense in windows jobs.
2.	Some PROCS are missing that were in jobs on the mainframe when initially sent.
3.	The PROCS had SORT parm files that did not work with incorrect file names in them and parameters that did not resolve.
4.	The GDG was set up to use generation data groups in the MS Windows environment.
5.	The PROCS contained code from other jobs which probably had been erroneously copied into it.
6.	The COBOL program select statements did not contain ORGANIZATION IS LINE SEQUENTIAL, which is needed for control card files with multiple records.
7.	The error handling in SQL load and unload programs needs to be changed to allow for more robust error code returns as well as modifying the reload statements to force server-side commit statements.

Our standard policy is to provide a tailored course outline, course hand-out and incorporate the client specific sample programs into the hands-on exercises.

Given the fact that there is a scarcity of up to date z/OS JCL text books, SYS-ED will develop reference documentation for teaching the subject matter inclusive of examples and exercises specific to the client's operational environment.

The course can be delivered as an instructor-led course with a subject matter expert at the client location with a suggested maximum class size of 16 students inclusive of a distance-learning option which will afford additional company employees located in dispersed geographic locations to participate in the training without having to incur travel expenses.

Upon completion of an instructor-led course, content is organized for evaluation for future utilization in the client's web-based delivery system.

Courseware as a Learning Center

The z/OS JCL student hand-out and training aids have been organized into a courseware as learning center format. It is available for review and utilization in an advertising free environment.
