Courseware Standards

Computer Education Techniques courseware incorporates industry standard and consultancy derived content, augmented by the CETi knowledge base. The classic principles of adult learning are applied to the content, interpreting and translating subject matter into performance objectives, narrative descriptions, and diagrams which explain the design, program logic and underlying architecture. The courseware has been designed to utilize a variety of presentation formats: textual, tabular, diagrammatic, bullet point, and code snippets.

The courseware is being migrated for utilization in web-enabled training environments.

CETi applies the following standards to its courseware:

1. Integrated student hand-out with a title for each module within the course.
2. Copyright acknowledgment and bibliography which states the sources of the student hand-out: software manuals, documentation in the public domain, and industry standard text books.
3. Table of contents which contains the major topics and subtopics within a module.
4. Performance objectives for each module of the student hand-out.
5. Subject matter headings and associated text:

Standards for Student Hand-outs Combination of narrative text, summary information, and hierarchical bullet point statements which present and provide a framework for explaining the content included in the table of contents.
Standards for Student Hand-outs Tables, figures, and graphics that pertain to the content of the course module.
Standards for Student Hand-outs Training aids which summarize important information from the student hand-out and can be used back on the job.
6. Demonstrations, walkthroughs, and examples which reinforce the performance objectives for each course module.
7. Exercises and workshops for establishing mastery of the subject matter.
8. Solutions to the walkthroughs and exercises.
9. Optional review questions for each module of the course hand-out which measures comprehension and mastery of subject matter and performance objectives from the student hand-out.
10. An optional post course assessment based on the skillset and knowledge acquired from the modules in the course hand-out.
11. A glossary as an appendix.
12. Index of topics with the associated chapter and page number at the end of the hand-out.
